The Asian Conference on Media, Communication & Film (MediAsia) is now in its eighth year and is held annually. Since 2010 more than 600 delegates have attended this annual interdisciplinary event, which takes place in Japan in autumn.
In 2016, MediAsia attracted 98 attendees representing 26 countries – a truly international event. This diversity serves as a wonderful comparative and contrastive resource.
The majority of MediAsia conference attendees are university faculty, with 52% holding an academic post. At 27.4% of the total registered delegates, postgraduate and doctoral students make up the next largest group of attendees. The remaining attendees come from the business sector (2.4%) and the public sector (1.2%), with 6% registered as "independent" and 11% registered as "other".
