Biography
Vincent Ni is the Asia Editor at NPR, where he leads a team of correspondents whose award-winning reporting spans across the vast region, and across all NPR platforms.
As an international journalist, Ni previously reported from the Middle East, Europe and Asia. He covered the Arab Spring from Egypt in 2011, the Maidan protests from Ukraine in 2014, and Myanmar's landmark elections in 2015. He also reported from the U.S. on the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections.
Before joining NPR in 2022, Ni was the China Affairs Correspondent and Bureau Chief for The Guardian newspaper and its Sunday edition, The Observer. And Prior to The Guardian, Ni was a Senior Journalist at the BBC in London, where, among other things, he worked on the network's flagship newsmagazine show, Newshour, which can also be heard on NPR's member stations.
In 2019 Ni created and edited an Asia-focused podcast, which was later acquired by the Brussels School of Governance in 2022. In 2024, he and his team won an Edward R. Murrow Award for feature reporting.
Ni holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford. He was a 2018 World Fellow at Yale University.
